Agency of Inclusion(The Afro-Colombian Experience)

This project addresses the experience of discriminatory language and how it affects the Afro-Colombian community. The project is comprised of two actions:

•Afro-Colombian Stories (video 2’55’’) :  White actors read stories of daily discrimination written by Afro-Colombians.

•Alaboas : Alaboas is a funeral song in the Afro-Colombian tradition. An Alaboas is song of ritual that carries the spirit into the afterlife, The song represents the act of remembering and releasing the dead.    For the project, (Chama, Jaun) a brother and sister duo, sang an Alaboas at the home of the former civilian paramilitary leader’s, Carlos Castano Gil, home.
